Prince of Peace

"PAX" is the Latin word for peace. As such it beautifully symbolizes that which has been promised to those who choose to follow Christ. When the angel announced our Lord’s birth, the heavenly host shouted "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to those on whom His favor rests." (Luke 2:14)

This promise had actually been foretold centuries earlier when Isaiah wrote: "For unto us a child is born, to us a son is given … and he will be called … Prince of Peace."

Then, on the night before His crucifixion, Jesus comforted His disciples by reminding them “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” (John 14:27)
